Three New Shelters on Jamison Avenue!

Last week, three new artful bus shelters were installed along Jamison Avenue in Southeast Roanoke, bringing beauty, comfort, and a celebration of pollinators to riders in the community.

Located at:

-Jamison EB at 14th Street (in front of Fire Station #6)

-Jamison WB at 14th Street (relocated from 13th Street)

-Jamison WB at 6th Street

These shelters were created through a partnership with the Roanoke Arts Commission and RIDE Solutions, and were designed by local artist Molly Kernan. Each shelter is inspired by the city’s designation as a Bee City USA and features wing-themed panels honoring pollinators: bee wings, butterfly wings, and bat wings.

The shelters were fabricated and installed by Renaissance Contract Lighting and Furnishings as part of our ongoing shelter installation program, which aims to improve the rider experience and celebrate the unique neighborhoods we serve.

We’re excited to keep building on this momentum. More shelters planned for installation in the months ahead.

Stay tuned for the next stop on our journey toward a more beautiful and accessible transit system!
