Bus Operators
Summary: The Bus Operators are responsible for safely transporting passengers over specified routes according to established time schedules.
- Starting rate of pay $19.63.
- Uniform allowance

Internet Technology Network Administrator
Summary: Responsible for managing Southwestern Virginia Transit Management Company, Inc.’s (SVTMC) network, servers, websites and PowerShell backup and other technologies utilized by SVTMC and its’ employees. Monitor network activity at the Main Office and Third Street Transfer Station.
Responsibilities:
- Check PowerShell backup reports to see if there are any errors or problems on any of the servers
- Manage internal and external DNS (domain name system)
- Configure a variety of hardware and software including but not limited to: routers, software, switches, and firewall rules
- Analyze logs such as the VPN for network security
- Run new network cable, test cable, and troubleshoot any issues with the cable
- Engage in project planning in order to maintain SVTMC’s entire system
- Coordinate SVTMC’s computer systems in order to increase compatibility and to share information between users
- Configure server in order to make it easier for user to access
- Build and maintain networks with the ability to add new networks per location
Qualifications:
- Five years of experience in Computer Science, Internet Technology, Information Technology, or a related field
- Have an Associates or Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Internet Technology, Information Technology, or a related field
- Knowledge of processors, chips, electronic equipment and computer hardware and software including applications and programming
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, and coordination of people and resources
- Ability to determine how a system should work and how changes in conditions, operations and the environment will affect outcomes:
- Ability to arrange things or actions in a certain order or pattern according to a specific rule or set of rules
- Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense
- Ability to write computer programs for various purposes

Mechanic - (Full-time)
Summary: Responsible for performing preventative maintenance inspections and maintenance repairs of diesel transit vehicles and service vehicles with limited supervision.
Responsibilities:
- Performs minor and major repairs as needed.
- Diagnoses and repairs with limited supervision.
- Maintains personal and shop tools in good order.
- Works with drawings, specifications, and service manuals.
- Assists in the working on the service lane when needed.
- Complies with all company safety procedures, adheres to all shop and operating procedures as applicable.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Automotive and Diesel Mechanic experience
- Your own tools to perform maintenance/inspections
- Knowledge of shop equipment and air tools
- Possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License or have ability to obtain
- Tire Experience a Plus
- State Inspection is a Plus
- Pay is based on experience - $21.02 - $25.91
- 7am till 3:30pm, Tuesday through Saturday, off Sunday and Monday, and 2:30pm till 11:00pm, Tuesday through Saturday, off Sunday and Monday
Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED), or
- one year related experience and/or training; or
- equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Must furnish own hand and power tools, and toolbox.
- Must have or acquire within 90 days of employment, a valid Virginia CDL Class B license.
- Must have the ability to read and comprehend service manuals.
- State Inspection is a plus.

AR Accounting Associate (Full-time)
Summary: This position is responsible for Accounts Receivable functions, including invoicing, collections and Customer File maintenance. This position is charged with the maintenance and distribution of tickets and passes, as well as assisting with processing Customer Service Representatives daily deposits and bi-weekly farebox receipts. This position is charged with supporting the strategic direction of the Southwestern Virginia Transit Management Company (SVTMC).
Responsibilities:
- Processes Accounts Receivable invoices resulting from various sales, including direct customer fare media and advertising sales.
- Monitors monthly aged trial balance and prepares customer statements. Contacts customers with monthly balances over sixty (60) days for payment arrangements.
- Maintains monthly reconciliation tying the A/R module to the general ledger.
- Distributes tickets to CSR’s and other employees, as needed, and maintains appropriate supporting documentation.
- Prepares and delivers tickets, as ordered by external customers.
- Reconciles ticket sales, as needed
- Maintains ticket inventory.
- Assists in preparing daily deposits for checks and cash received by CSR’s.
- Assists in counting and preparing fare-box revenue for transfer to Loomis.
- Assists in maintaining petty cash to exchange currency and coins to CSRs as needed.
- Provides the Director of Finance with any materials related to accounts receivable and ticket distribution as needed.
- Assists with special projects as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent, required, with two (2) years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Associate degree in business or accounting with two (2) years related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.

Transportation Supervisor (Full-time)
Summary: The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for the efficient and ongoing operations of the department, as directed by the Director and/or Assistant Director of Transportation. The transportation supervisor ensures compliance with company policy and union bargaining agreement. This position is also responsible for the tasks of dispatcher. This position is responsible for being the point of communication for all calls. This position will transmit messages, monitor reported incidents, and track vehicles.
Responsibilities:
- Ensures that service is provided in a timely and safe manner
- Critiques and/or corrects observed performance deficiencies
- Investigates accidents and follows process/procedures
- Assumes an active visible role in enforcing policy and procedures
- Recommends discipline and training needs of the department
- Recommends route and schedule changes
- Flexible work schedule between 3:30 AM and 10:30 PM daily Monday-Saturday, Sunday shifts as well
Qualifications:
- Ability to read and comprehend instruction, short correspondence, and memos
- Excellent writing and oral communication
- Ability to operate radio communication
- Ability to operate all vehicle types used in transporting passengers
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiple and divide
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
- Excellent mathematical skills, ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage
- High School dipolma or equivalent
- 6 mo. to year related experience and/or training
- Equivalent combination of education and experience
- DOT Medical Card
- Class B CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) with passenger endorsement preferred (will train for licensing)
