Information Officer


  • High school diploma/GED required or equivalent
  • Prefer 2+ years of customer service experience
  • Schedule: Saturday 7:45am – 5:45pm and fill in as needed during the week


  • Provides face-to-face and over the phone customer service to customers seeking transit
  • Assists with counting transit fares
  • Works in 2 different locations (Campbell Court Transfer Station and Main Office Building)

Bus Cleaner (Part-time)

Summary: The Part Time Cleaner is responsible for servicing buses, this includes the cleaning of the interior and exterior areas of buses and service vehicles.


  • High school diploma or GED
  • 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Knowledge of operations of cleaning equipment, proper use and storage of cleaning solvents, per MSDS, proper cleaning techniques for exposure to the public
  • VA driver’s license is required
  • Some bus driving experience is helpful
  • Schedule: 6:00PM-10:30PM Monday – Friday


  • Cleaning and fueling of the Valley Metro buses and Trolleys
  • Fare box handling
  • Checking fluids and tires
  • Parking buses
  • Cleaning of the shop area at times

Mechanic Apprentice – Mechanic 3rd Year (Full-time position)


  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Some automotive or diesel mechanic experience (automotive classes are considered)
  • Own hand tools to perform maintenance inspections
  • Knowledge of shop equipment and air tools
  • Valid CDL class B license within 30 days of employment


  • Servicing transit buses after daily operations
  • Perform preventative maintenance on heavy duty shop vehicles
  • Inspect vehicles and make necessary repairs
  • **Open Until Filled


As a condition of employment for all positions, especially those which involve the performance of safety-sensitive functions as defined by 49 CFR Part 655, as amended, must submit to a urine drug screen, under the authority of the U. S. Department of Transportation, Federal Transit Administration.

This memo serves as notification that if given an offer of employment, it is contingent on the passing of the aforementioned drug screen and the applicant will not be assigned to perform any job functions, including safety-sensitive functions, unless the urine drug screen has a verified negative result.
